About Alex

Welcome to Ivy Rose Moon!

I’m Alex, an Ivy League-trained therapist turned writer, coach, and mentor.

My story begins over 15 years ago, back when I was facing my own struggle with depression and an eating disorder.

I spent years working with traditional mental health providers and going in and out of various eating disorder programs only to find myself getting sicker and sicker.

It was only when I decided to leave the traditional path and seek out my own team of holistic and alternative providers that I started to get better (and get to a place where I could say I was fully recovered).

While I certainly don’t think my path is the right one for everyone, it did get me wondering if other women would benefit from some of the same modalities that I used.

So, frustrated with many aspects of the mental health system and traditional psychology’s approach as a whole, I went back to school to become a therapist.

Although I loved the world of life coaching and felt there was some real promise and benefit to that discipline, I wanted the credibility and specific expertise that came with being a licensed professional.

I hold two master’s degrees in counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and spent 6 years working as a therapist, clinical manager, and clinical director specializing in eating disorders and related mental health issues.

But despite my training and work within the traditional therapeutic system, I knew that wasn’t where I was meant to be long-term.

You see, what most people don’t know is that traditional psychology is designed to get people who are struggling to a place of baseline functioning. It’s not actually about helping people thrive.

And while of course it’s important to get to a place where your life isn’t consumed by a mental health struggle, it begs the question, “What then?”

What are the ingredients to a life well-lived? How do we foster resilience in ourselves and in the next generation? How do we heal a sick culture and focus more on prevention of mental health struggles rather than amelioration of them?

This is what Ivy Rose Moon is all about.

My work is all about helping you discover and live out your own definition of health, happiness, and healing.

My goal is to provide you with the resources and tools you need to help you navigate the complexities of life and come out the other side as a more resilient, happier, healthier human being.

In other words, we’re all about thriving here, not just surviving.

And although I have focused predominantly on teachings related to the Sacred Feminine, Goddess Archetypes, and living an intuitive, Soul-led life, in 2025 my work is taking a turn to cover a wider range of topics that I feel led to teach on. You can read more about those changes here.

There’s one other thing you should know about me:

I approach my work differently than other coaches, teachers, and mentors.

You will notice that rather than having one specific niche or topic I teach on, I am intentionally keep the scope of my teachings broad to allow for different seasons and eras of my work to come through.

As a 6/2 Manifestor in Human Design (if that means anything to you), I am an initiator by design. I experience waves of creative urges and the desire to explore new topics depending on where my life takes me.

This means that instead of having one signature course that I run on repeat or one specific thing I’m known for, you’re going to see different phases of my work where the focus is on a specific area or topic.

Some seasons may resonate with you, others may not and that’s okay. My hope is that you’ll stay as long as you need, take what works for you, make it your own, and leave the rest!

This is your life after all. I’m just here to help.

All my love,

Alex xx
